Introduction to Disney Pixar (descriptive text)
Sippie cups with Mr. Incredible's face on them. Gummies in the shape of Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear. Blankets that have Nemo, Marlin, and Dory's faces. What do these items all have in common? They all portray characters from Disney Pixar Animation Studios.
Pixar was first incorporated in California, on Febuary 3rd,1986. Before merging with Disney, Pixar was successful with their movies like Toy Story (1995), A Bugs Life (1998), and Monster's Inc. (2001). Pixar also had success with some of their short films, like Geri's Game (1997) and For the Birds (2000). However, before making movies, Pixar used to be The Lucasfilm Divison which was first established by John Lucas, in 1979. In 1986, Steve Jobs purchased the company, made it into an independent company, and called it Pixar. In the same year, the short film Luxo Jr. was completed and released. Luxo Jr. is about a lamp named Luxo Jr., who plays with a toy ball. Not only was this the first three dimensional computer animated film to be nominated for The Best Animated Short Film, but Luxo Jr. , now appears in Pixar's logo, with the lamp replacing the letter "I". Starting in 1989, Pixar began to make commercials and won the CLIO award. Twice.
Disney Pixar Animation Studios is one of many animation companies in the United States, and is the creator of many iconic children's movies such as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and the Toy Story movies. In 2006, Disney agreed to purchase Pixar, creating what is now called Disney Pixar Animation Studios. Disney Pixar continues to make films to this day and have some films coming up in the near future like The Friendly Dinosaur, Inside Out, and an untitled movie about el día de los muertos, or the day of the dead.
Disney Pixar Animation Studios has touched the lives of many children and adults all over the world. And they will continue to for generations to come.
